Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar are celebrating their longevity as a pop-culture couple.
The actors marked their 22nd wedding anniversary on Sunday by sharing a photo to Instagram that shows them smiling and embracing on a beachfront balcony, with palm trees swaying in the background.
“22,” they captioned the joint post, adding a string of emojis for a diamond ring, champagne glasses and a bride.
Prinze, 48, and Gellar, 47, met on the set of the 1997 horror movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and married on Sept. 1, 2002. They were friends for years before they became a couple.

“I didn’t go on dates with other girls” after realizing she was the one, Prinze told People magazine in 2020. “Nor did I even want to pursue dates with other girls.”
They have two kids: Charlotte Grace, 14, and Rocky James, 11, who just started high school and middle school respectively.
The former teen idols largely avoid the glare of Hollywood, but they’re still actively working. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star Gellar will next be seen in the Paramount+ “Dexter” prequel “Original Sin,” which premieres in December, and Prinze starred earlier this summer in the murder mystery “The Girl in the Pool,” which reunited him with his “Head Over Heels” co-star Monica Potter.

“Green flag happiness goals right here,” an admirer commented on the post.
“The best couple,” another wrote. “Because of you I believe love exists.”
“Howard Stern still needs to pay up!” one fan reminded, referencing the shock jock’s bold prediction in 2001 that their marriage wouldn’t last 10 years.
