Jamie Foxx Shares Update on His Health After "Unexpected Dark Journey"

Jamie Foxx is grateful for where he is today following his health scare earlier this year.
"You're lookin at a man who is thankful… finally startin to feel like myself…" the Oscar winner wrote on Instagram Aug. 16 alongside a series of photos of himself, "it's been an unexpected dark journey… but I can see the light…"
And Jamie appreciates his supporters who've kept him in their thoughts.
"I'm thankful to everyone that reached out and sent well wishes and prayers…" he added. "I have a lot of people to thank… u just don't know how much it meant… I will be thanking all of you personally… and if you didn't know… GOD IS GOOD… all day every day… #swipeleft #imbackandimbetter #nobaddays."
Back in April, Jamie's daughter Corinne Foxx shared that her father "experienced a medical complication." Afterwards, several stars sent messages of support to the Ray actor—with him noting he appreciated "all the love."
The following month, Corinne confirmed that he'd "been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating."
Since then, Jamie has been seen out and about again. However, he's kept specific details of his medical complication private.
"I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through," he shared in a July Instagram video. "And I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates. But to be honest with you, I just didn't want you to see me like that, man."
The 55-year-old said he prefers for fans to see him laughing, having fun, telling jokes and working on his movies and TV shows. "I didn't want you to see me with tubes running out of me," he continued, "and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through."
The Just Mercy alum noted Corinne and his sister Deidra Dixon "saved my life," and he thanked them for keeping things "airtight" in terms of protecting his privacy. However, Jamie acknowledged that, "By being quiet, sometimes things get out of hand."
He went on to shut down rumors about his health. "Some people said I was blind. But as you can see, the eyes are working. The eyes are working just fine," he continued. "Said I was paralyzed—I'm not paralyzed. But I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I'm coming back, and I'm able to work."
And Jamie's fans and famous pals are thrilled he's better.
"Bless you my friend!!!" Jeremy Renner, who's been on his own recovery journey following his January snowplow accident, wrote in the comments underneath Jamie's latest post. Added Garcelle Beauvais, "God is amazing and so are you!"
