Two Hillsborough County Floriday Sheriff's Office deputies sustained "critical" injuries after an attack at the scene of a domestic disturbance Thursday.
Video released by the Sherrif's Office shows a man, who officials identified as Ralph Bouzy, crash a car into two officers and a parked Sherrif's vehicle.
The deputies, identified as Corporal Carlos Brito and Deputy Manuel Santos, are being treated in a Tampa area hospital.
"Corporal Brito and Deputy Santos came to work today committed to making a difference in their community," Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Because of this man's deliberate and intentional actions, their lives, and their family's lives are changed forever."
Bouzy has been charged with three counts of Attempted Murder on a Law Enforcement Officer, according to a Sheriff's Office press release.
Sheriffs say crash was 'ambush'
Investigators arrived at a home where Bouzy had the car parked in the driveway after receiving a call from an unnamed woman who said that Bouzy was acting violently and that she was in fear for her life, according to the press release.
Deputies attempted to make contact with Bouzy but he drove away.
Bouzy then returned to the scene just after 8 a.m. local time, accelerating his vehicle down the residential street causing one officer to jump out of the way of the vehicle ahead of the crash.
"There is no other way to describe this other than an ambush," Chronister said. "Our deputies put their lives on the line every day to protect this community and what happened today makes me absolutely sick."
