Who will host 'Pop Culture Jeopardy!' spinoff? The answer is...

“Pop Culture Jeopardy!” producers searching for the new show's host have come up with the correct response: Who is Colin Jost?
The "Saturday Night Live" star and current Olympics surfing commentator will emcee the "Jeopardy!" spinoff announced in May by Amazon Prime, as the quiz show's first streaming series.
Jost, who anchors "Weekend Update" on NBC's late-night variety program with Michael Che, summarized his feelings in just a few, short words.
“What is: I’m excited,” said Jost, 42, in a statement.
The announcement describes “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” as “a brand-new twist on the classic quiz show’s ‘answer-and-question’ format that combines the academic rigor of ‘Jeopardy!’ with the excitement and unpredictability of pop culture. Contestants, playing in teams of three, will need to be experts in categories from Alternative Rock to The Avengers; Broadway to MMA; Gen Z to Zendaya as they compete in a tournament-style event for the grand prize and ultimate bragging rights.”

“Colin’s sharp wit and intelligence epitomize ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’” Suzanne Prete, Sony Pictures Television's game shows chief, said in the announcement. “He’s smart and quick, like our contestants, and we know he’ll be able to keep up with them while making this new series his own. We could not be happier that he is joining us for this new journey.”
A premiere date for the series has not been announced.

In addition to Jost’s time on “SNL,” he has served as host of the 2018 Emmys and April’s White House Correspondents' Dinner.
Jost has twice been a clue on “Jeopardy!” that stumped the contestants. In 2019, then-host Alex Trebek gave the clue while holding a photo of Jost. Trebek said, “Writers and performers who’ve gone from (Harvard’s) ‘Lampoon’ to ‘Saturday Night Live’ include this young fellow, who co-hosts Weekend Update with Michael Che.” But the players hadn’t a clue.Jost evaded contestants once more in 2021 with the clue: “A head writer of ‘Saturday Night Live’, he titled his memoir ‘A Very Punchable Face”.

Following the incident, Jost shared in a Facebook post that he felt, “Very excited to be a Jeopardy answer that no one got right.
“My mom texted me that someone guessed ‘conin o brien,’” Jost continued, seemingly referencing his mom's spelling of Conan O'Brien. “Only thing that makes me feel better is that no one answered (Dave Chappelle) right a couple months ago and the clue was a photo of him and the phrase ‘he played Bradley Cooper’s longtime friend.”We’re guessing with his new gig, Jost might have a little more notoriety with the contestants.
